Success is a perspective. It is innate.

Success, is definitely a perspective. The definition of success is based on the person defining it. You might have an expensive car and a small house, but feeling unsuccessful because of the small house. How you view success may not be how someone else views it. It’s a matter of perspective, does that make sense?

If we don’t learn how to view success as a matter of something that is independent of our results, we will always be defined by what we do instead of who we are. Hard work isn’t indicative of success. If that was the case everyone who works hard would be successful, but as we know that isn’t true. That is a conversation for another day. I hope you are following me.

You are successful even if your environment or surroundings don’t look successful. You are innately successful because of who God called you to be. Your accolades don’t determine your success, it’s who God says you are, that already defines your success. When we view success this way, we operate differently. We are now moving in life, knowing who we are despite our circumstances or the situations that seem to happen for us in life. I say for instead of to us because life happens as a means to make us better not put us down. Remember, God is working all things together for our good, Romans 8:28.

After this realization, we approach life and situations with optimism and gratitude, because we trust that the situations in our life are unfolding in a way that makes us more successful than we currently are. When you think about it, the only way from rock bottom is up. Now, that gives me an internal peace no other thing can. That is the power of God my friends.

Faith is now fortified and strengthened because our path may not look successful but we remind ourselves that success is independent of our path. Success is by definition who we are already.

If you don’t hold success as a standard for who you are, it will be hard to ever consider yourself successful.

What does success mean to you? Is it the person who lives a life of freedom? Is it the person you see being kind and fair? Is it the person you see driving the nicest car, the person on social media posting their luxurious lifestyle, or something else? Once you put success in a box, it’s yours to own.

I like to define success as the ability to progress through the many ebbs and flows of life. This is an inward trait, a character trait. To look at success this way means to not let anything outside of yourself allow you to feel unsuccessful. When you try and try again but fail, you can decide in that moment to give up, but you don’t you actually get up and try again, and that is what makes you successful. Let’s say you don’t try again and you give up for good, you still have the opportunity to keep going in this very moment. We have to look at each second as a NEW chance, a fresh start, a new beginning. It is a matter of perspective and having the capacity to be vigilant and driven in your own life.
